What this stage means
Nextmove uses this label when the posting describes work before a customer commits to a deployment, such as evaluating a use case, shaping a proposed solution, demonstrating technical feasibility, or supporting a sales process. The label describes the work mentioned in the posting. It does not guarantee that the role sits in sales or that every project ends before production.
Read the responsibilities closely. One posting may combine evaluation with proof of concept or implementation. A role may include production engineering even when it also supports a pre-sales process. The stage label helps you find related postings. It does not replace the job description.
How to compare the postings
If you are comparing a role, ask:
- Does the job own technical discovery and evaluation, or does it own production delivery after a customer says yes?
- Which location and responsibility level apply to the salary range?
- Does the posting describe commission, bonus, equity, or other offer terms separately?
- How much customer travel is expected, and is the amount stated?
Current examples in the public results include postings for financial services, GenAI, public sector, and design or digital products. Their titles and employers differ, so the common stage label should not be read as proof that they are the same job.
See all FDE salary ranges, pre-sales and evaluation jobs, and the method and source notes.
What the comparison cannot show
Project stages overlap. A posting can mention more than one stage, so these postings are not mutually exclusive groups. The salary page cannot show that pre-sales work causes a higher or lower salary than implementation or operations. Differences can reflect the employer, location, level, technical scope, and responsibilities represented in the postings.
The page counts postings, not people or hires. Missing salary terms remain unknown. Confirm the current range and responsibilities with the employer.
