What this category means
An individual contributor is an FDE role without people management as the defining responsibility. The work can still include technical ownership, customer conversations, implementation, production code, or leadership within a project. The category is based on what the posting describes. It does not guarantee that two roles with the same title have the same scope.
The current page groups FDE and related deployment roles by the responsibilities found in employer postings. A posting can be classified by more than one lens, such as level, kind of work, or project stage. Use the role description to check what the job actually asks you to do.
How to compare the postings
Start by checking the location and responsibility level attached to the salary terms. The US-wide group combines postings from different employers, regions, and kinds of FDE work. Use it as a comparison point for the postings shown on this page.
Then separate salary from responsibility. An individual-contributor role may involve production delivery, internal deployment, technical pre-sales, or customer adoption. Those jobs can have different technical depth and travel expectations even when their salary terms overlap.
When you compare a posting, ask:
- Is the salary range for the location where I would work?
- Does the role own production delivery, configuration and integration, or another kind of work?
- What customer contact, travel, on-call, or implementation responsibility is described?
- Which salary and other offer terms are stated in the original posting?
You can compare current individual-contributor job postings and see the full FDE salary comparison.
Limits of this comparison
The page reports employer postings, not actual compensation or a market average. The postings shown are not a count of people or hires, and coverage depends on the careers pages Nextmove tracks. Confirm the current range and role details with the employer. Read how the data is collected for coverage and freshness limits.
