Staff Forward Deployed Engineer

Suki builds AI for clinical documentation. Clinicians who use Suki spend over 70% less time on admin work, and our customers see a 9X return in their first year. Suki Platform gives other healthcare companies access to the same technology through APIs and SDKs, powering voice features in telehealth platforms, care delivery tools, and specialty EMRs.

We are hiring a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer to lead technical delivery for our most important Platform customers. This is an individual contributor role.

About the role

Integrating AI into healthcare systems is hard. APIs behave differently in production, clinical workflows vary from site to site, and small edge cases decide whether clinicians keep using the product. You will own our most complex customer integrations from scoping to production. You will also turn what you learn into tools, patterns, and product feedback that help the rest of the team deliver faster.

What you will do

  • Lead technical delivery for strategic Platform customers, working directly with their engineering, product, and clinical teams.
  • Turn unclear customer requirements into solution designs using dictation, ambient, text generation, and summarization.
  • Make architecture decisions on security, data handling, and edge cases.
  • Build reference implementations and playbooks the team can reuse.
  • Deploy distributed applications in on-premises and cloud environments, and own them after launch, including monitoring and incident response.
  • Bring customer feedback to our Platform, ML, and Product teams and help shape the roadmap.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team, review their work, and help with hiring.

What we are looking for

  • 8+ years in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or application development.
  • Experience as the technical lead on complex customer projects, with influence beyond your own work.
  • Strong skills in Python, Go, or Java, and working knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
  • Experience shipping LLM features to production, including prompt design, evaluation, and trade-offs between latency, cost, and quality.
  • Strong knowledge of OpenAPI 3.0, API design, and API security.
  • Experience deploying and running distributed systems on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, probability, and system design.
  • Clear communication with engineers, clinicians, and executives, including onsite work with customer IT teams.

Nice to have

  • Healthcare experience, such as HIPAA, EHR integrations, or HL7/FHIR.
  • Experience with real-time or streaming systems, such as WebSockets, gRPC, or audio streaming.

You don't need to have done all of this. If you have done most of it and are ready to learn the rest, we want to hear from you.

Our stack

GCP, Kubernetes, Vertex AI, Go, Python, C++, PyTorch, JAX, gRPC, JavaScript, and a range of open and commercial LLMs.

Why Suki

  • Clinicians at health systems across the country use Suki every day.
  • Our team includes former Google and Apple engineers, Stanford physicians, and healthcare veterans.
  • We are going after a $30B+ market.
  • We have raised $165M from investors including Venrock, First Round, Flare, and March Capital.
  • We have been recognized by Fast Company, Google (Partner of the Year for AI/ML), Forbes (AI 50), and Frost & Sullivan.

Suki is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve.
