What this group means
Nextmove reads the job description and classifies a posting as serving external customers when the work is done for people or organizations outside the hiring company. That can include deploying software in a customer environment, building a production integration, running an evaluation, or supporting adoption after launch. The classification describes who the work serves. It does not tell you how much time the job spends in meetings, travel, coding, sales support, or production operations.
Some postings serve external customers and internal teams. Those are kept in a separate Both group. The recipient groups describe the work in the posting. They are not employer job-family labels.
You can browse external-customer FDE postings and open the original employer posting for its full salary range and conditions.
How to read the salary comparison
The page uses the midpoint of each posting’s stated annual range when both ends of a usable range are available. That produces one comparable number per posting. It does not mean the employer will offer the midpoint.
A salary range can vary by level, location, and employer. Check the location tied to the range and read other offer terms in the original posting. Confirm whether the job owns production code after a customer goes live and who handles incidents or ongoing support. A customer-facing title alone does not answer those questions.
External-customer work is not one job
The same recipient group can contain production engineering, implementation and delivery, technical pre-sales, and customer adoption work. Compare the actual responsibility in the posting. Ask what you will build, which project stage you will own, and who uses the result.
Use the full FDE salary breakdown for comparisons by level, location, coding work, travel, and project stage. Read the current FDE jobs and the posting methodology before treating a range as a market quote.
The page summarizes postings, not people, hires, or a causal relationship between customer scope and salary. Confirm current details with the employer.
