About Sage Care

Sage Care is a fast-growing, early-stage healthcare startup transforming care navigation with AI. Our platform helps patients find the right care, enables providers to focus on the people who need them most, and improves access, quality, and economic outcomes at scale.

Founded by leaders from Apple, Uber, and Carbon Health, Sage Care is backed by top-tier investors including General Catalyst and Chelsea Clinton. We work with health systems across the U.S. and have expanded internationally to the MENA region, where we are partnering with healthcare organizations to deploy our AI-powered care navigation platform.

About the Role

We're hiring a Partner Engineer to own the technical relationship with 3–5 of our health system partners, from first integration through go-live, expansion, and day-to-day operations.

We call our customers partners because we work that closely with them. Every partner is scaling with us: adding clinics, workflows, and call volume. We're growing from a handful of partners, and each one needs to feel supported and never forgotten. The Partner Engineer is the person who makes that true.

This is a high-ownership role at the intersection of engineering, customer relationships, and product. You'll connect Sage Care to partners' EHRs and phone systems. You'll configure and launch our AI voice and matching products for each partner's workflows, and you'll be the first responder when something breaks. You'll work inside partners' environments alongside their IT, access, and clinical teams, and bring what you learn back to our product and engineering teams.

This role is ideal for a strong engineer who likes being close to customers, is energized by messy real-world systems like Epic, HL7, faxes, and phone trees, and wants to turn one-off partner work into a repeatable playbook.

Responsibilities

Own Partner Relationships

  • Serve as the technical owner and trusted point of contact for 3–5 health system partners.
  • Keep partners and Sage Care leadership informed with clear, regular communication.
  • Spend time on-site with partners during integrations and go-lives.
  • Support pre-sale conversations and scoping with prospective partners.

Connect Sage Care to Partner Systems

  • Connect Sage Care to each partner's systems, workflows, and data.
  • Build partner-specific tooling, automations, and integrations when needed.
  • Work closely with our Epic integration team and partner IT teams to deliver EHR work.

Launch and Improve Agents

  • Configure, test, and launch Sage Care's AI agents for each partner.
  • Tune agent behavior and the patient experience using real call data.
  • Help partners expand to new clinics, workflows, and use cases.

Keep Partners Live and Healthy

  • Be the first responder when something breaks, and close the loop with partners.
  • Monitor partner quality and catch issues before partners notice them.
  • Report on partner performance with metrics partners trust.

Work Across Teams

  • Help product and engineering discover, triage, and prioritize issues from the field.
  • Turn partner feedback and recurring problems into product improvements.
  • Contribute to internal projects beyond your own partners.

Make Every Partner Easier Than the Last

  • Turn one-off partner work into repeatable processes, tooling, and documentation.
  • Use AI and automation to create leverage in your own work.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of Partner, solutions, or forward-deployed engineering experience, with strong coding and SQL skills.
  • Experience integrating with and debugging third-party systems in production.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A high-ownership generalist who enjoys juggling many partners and projects.
  • Willingness to travel to partner sites, up to 50%, concentrated around integrations and go-lives.
  • Experience in healthcare, or a strong interest in working in it.

Even Better

  • Experience with Epic or other EHR integrations.
  • Experience at a startup.
  • Experience with voice AI, telephony, or LLM-based products.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP.

What Success Looks Like

  • Every partner you own has a clear technical owner, trusts you, and never feels forgotten.
  • New partners go from signed to live faster, with fewer custom steps each time.
  • Partner issues are caught and resolved quickly, often before the partner notices.
  • Onboarding a new clinic or partner follows a shared runbook and go-live checklist, and partner-specific knowledge lives in config and tooling, not in one person's head.
  • Engineering priorities reflect real partner needs because you brought the evidence.
  • Your partners expand with Sage Care, adding clinics, workflows, and use cases.

Why This Role Matters

Our product only works when it's connected to a partner's real systems and workflows: their EHR, their phone lines, their SOPs, and their people. Integration and launch are where most healthcare AI deployments stall.

As we grow from a handful of partners to 20+, the Partner Engineer is how we keep the close, hands-on partnerships that set Sage Care apart, while making each launch faster and more reliable than the last.

How We Work

At Sage Care, our values shape how we build, collaborate, and serve.

  • Do Good Through Serving People: We serve users, teammates, and communities with integrity, compassion, kindness, and optimism.
  • Innovate with Safety, Evidence, and Transparency: We move quickly while prioritizing trust, safety, ethical decision-making, and evidence-based approaches.
  • Lead with Curiosity and Kindness: We ask questions before making assumptions and approach discovery, debate, and problem-solving with humility and care.
  • We, Not Me: We believe the best work happens through collaboration, mutual respect, and constructive feedback.
  • Efficiency and AI in All We Do: We use automation and AI thoughtfully to work smarter, create leverage, and build better products.
