The job description from Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed AI Specialist to help shape the future of AI-powered work across Commercial Banking and Corporate & Investment Banking. This is a hands-on individual contributor opportunity to combine AI expertise with the ability to partner directly with business stakeholders to solve complex, high-value problems.

As a Forward Deployed AI Specialist, you will embed with business, product, and operational teams to understand real-world workflows, identify opportunities for agentic AI, and rapidly design and prototype solutions that deliver measurable value. You will work at the intersection of business, technology, data, and risk — building solutions that are innovative, practical, and deployable within a highly regulated environment.

In this role, you will

  • Partner directly with business, product, and operational teams to understand workflows, pain points, controls, and opportunities for transformation
  • Design, develop, and prototype agentic AI solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and operational effectiveness---selecting the right intelligent solution pattern (ML model, GenAI, agents, or no AI) and defining success criteria up front. Build working prototypes with Product and Tech to show the art of the possible and test value with real users and data.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, workflows, and proof-of-concept solutions
  • Leverage modern AI techniques including large language models (LLMs), agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, orchestration frameworks, and evaluation methodologies
  • Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, Information Security, and other control partners to ensure solutions are explainable, auditable, and aligned with governance standards
  • Contribute reusable patterns, capabilities, tools, evaluations, and reference architectures that can be leveraged across multiple business domains
  • Stay current on emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices while helping raise AI fluency across the organization
  • Drive solutions from concept through implementation with a strong focus on measurable business outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Artificial Intelligence Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, AI/ML, data science, solution architecture, or a related technical discipline

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Understanding of modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic and multi-agent architectures, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Prompt engineering and evaluation frameworks
  • Experience within commercial banking, corporate banking, capital markets, lending, client onboarding, financial crimes, deal execution, sales/origination, trading, or related financial services domains
  • Experience building AI-powered solutions that have achieved measurable business impact
  • Experience in rapid prototyping in Python, Notebooks or low-code tools
  • Experience translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Experience with cloud-based AI platforms, enterprise data ecosystems, and production AI deployment patterns
  • Knowledge of model governance, AI risk management, responsible AI, privacy, and information security practices
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across business, technology, and control functions
  • Proven ability to operate in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments
