AI Engineer, Agent Platform

AI summary of the role

NewsBreak is hiring its first dedicated Agent Platform engineer to own the agent runtime, eval harness, and context engineering layer that powers multiple AI products in production.

No longer in the current catalog. Last included 2026-09-09. Check the employer’s posting for availability.

What you’ll do

  • Build the agent runtime orchestrating context assembly, tool invocation, model routing, and workflow tracking across multiple agentic products
  • Design the eval and observability harness running thousands of agent traces per day to surface regressions and turn failures into improvements
  • Own the context engineering layer — retrieval, ranking, compression, and memory — and contribute informed opinions on RAG vs. long-context vs. structured tool returns
  • Integrate and benchmark new foundation models, making principled decisions on model selection based on capability and cost

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrable experience shipping an AI product with real users (side project, internal tool, open-source agent, or startup MVP)
  • Active, hands-on familiarity with modern AI development tooling (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, v0, or equivalents)
  • Ability to work end-to-end independently: backend, frontend, deployment, instrumentation, and iteration
  • Strong proficiency in Python (or Go / Node) with solid backend engineering experience (APIs, databases, queues, caches)
